20 Things You Didn't Know About Jaws 3D

8. Roy Scheider REALLY Didn't Want To Be Involved

Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) was always intended to be a part of Jaws 2 and, much to the chagrin of the actor, he was under contractual obligation to reprise the role. He never wanted to. Scheider rarely did sequels at all - the closest being The Seven-Ups, a spin-off of The French Connection where he plays Gene Hackman's former partner and manages to upstage the original's great car chase.

So when he was approached for the third, he was adamant about not getting involved. "Mephistopheles...couldn't talk me into doing it," he said. "They knew better than to even ask." He secured a role in the John Badham helicopter thriller Blue Thunder to ensure his schedule would be booked.
