20 Things You Didn't Know About Jaws 3D
16. Richard Matheson Wanted Mickey Rooney
When Richard Matheson was still involved in the planning stages, one of the more bizarre demands the prolific writer made was that the film include a role for one of his favourite actors, Mickey Rooney. He wrote a role specifically for the actor, but when it turned out that Rooney was unavailable (likely working on The Love Boat, given the production schedule), Matheson deemed the entire role completely pointless. Needless to say, Matheson was deeply unhappy with the finished film.
Matheson's involvement would have been another aspect Spielberg would have approved, as he penned the script for the director's TV movie Duel.
