20 Things You Didn't Know About Jaws 3D

12. It's Also Remarkably Similar To...ahem...Another Water Park Monster Movie

Universal Pictures

By the time the 1950s were wrapping up, so was Universal's successful run of classic monster films like Dracula and Frankenstein, the studio turning their attention more toward the horrors of the atom bomb. One of the last releases was The Creature from the Black Lagoon, an original Universal monster who is the missing link between man and fish.

In the film's sequel, Revenge of the Creature (rightfully ridiculed on Mystery Science Theatre 3000), the creature is in captivity and on display at Oceanic park in Florida. It isn't long before it escapes and does what Gill-men do: Kill a lot of people and try and shag the leading lady.

Both films are also notable for featuring early roles for future stars - Clint Eastwood in Revenge and Dennis Quaid in Jaws.
