Henriksen went full 'method,' painting his own hair braid with tar, as was the Navy custom, and having thick, fake acrylic fingernails applied, snapping the tips off with pliers to look like bone extensions.

He even went out joyriding with Paxton in full costume and make up. When the pair were stopped by a cop for speeding, Henriksen stayed in character, freaking out the patrolman, who reached for his weapon, before realising they were just actors.
