James Bond’s home was only seen twice before its appearance in SPECTRE: in Dr. No and Live And Let Die respectively.

During pre-production, Barbara Broccoli advised production designer, Dennis Gassner that it would be the most difficult set for him to design as everyone has their own view on what Bond’s home should look like.

Gassner worked with Daniel Craig to design James Bond's flat, making it very spartan, in-keeping with Double-0 Seven’s warrior image and the fact that he is hardly ever there, but also incorporating personal touches, most noticeably Royal Doulton's Jack the Bulldog, which M bequeathed to him at the end of SkyFall.

Gassner later agreed that the task of designing Bond’s home had been a challenge, but a rewarding one.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
