8. The Droid Factory Sequence Was Added During Reshoots

By far one of the most divisive sequences in the movie is the lengthy, CGI-slathered droid factory set-piece, which only helps bloat out an already long-enough film out to 142 excruciating minutes.

Curiously, the scene wasn't actually part of principal photography at all, as Anakin and Padme were originally captured as soon as they arrived on Geonosis.

But after Lucas decided that the sequence needed some more action to help punch things up, he added the droid factory detour in reshoots that took place during March 2001.

As won't surprise anyone who's ever watched the scene, pre-production on the sequence was rushed, with Lucas hurriedly pre-visualising his desired shots for the shoot, while actual physical, live-action shooting was completed in just 4.5 hours.
