A role as juicy as Kylo Ren was always going to invite the attention of Hollywood's best and brightest, and that it certainly did. Though the part ultimately went to the inimitable Adam Driver, a diverse array of actors were in the mix at various points.

The three biggest rivals to Driver were reportedly Michael Fassbender, Eddie Redmayne, and Lee Pace, each of whom either met with Abrams to discuss the role or straight-up auditioned for it.

It's certainly easy to see how each actor would bring something unique to the role, though it's also hard to imagine anyone but Adam Driver playing that part.

Had, say, Fassbender or Pace played Kylo, it's difficult to picture them playing him as the petulant Darth Vader fanboy we meet in the final film.
