Fans were thrilled when Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill were confirmed to be reprising their roles as Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker in the film, though given that they hadn't been actively starring in major movies in the decades since the original trilogy ended - unlike Harrison Ford - they unsurprisingly needed to get back into shape.

The year before The Force Awakens started filming, Fisher and Hamill were reportedly put on an intense regimen to get lean - a combination of diet, exercise, and stunt training.

Fisher ended up losing 35 pounds to play Leia - a fact she was less-than-thrilled about - while Hamill lost 50 pounds, which he credited largely to an "if it tastes good, don't eat it" diet.
