The film concludes with Andy and Trish consummating their marriage, but rather than simply shoot a sex scene, Judd Apatow ultimately filmed a delirious song and dance number set to "The Age of Aquarius."

The surreal affectation was actually a result of Apatow's discussions with late, great comedian Garry Shandling, who was also a close personal friend of Apatow's.

While Apatow was struggling to crack the film's ending, Shandling told him that he had to make it clear Andy was having good sex because he was in love with Trish, prompting Apatow to come up with the eventual visual metaphor for that love.
