Though the film was largely acclaimed by critics - rocking a cool 85% on the Tomatometer as it does - you probably didn't know that it also landed on the American Film Institute's prestigious Top 10 Movies Of 2005 list.

That's a list that also includes the incredible likes of A History of Violence, Brokeback Mountain, Capote, Good Night and Good Luck, King Kong, Munich, The Squid and the Whale, and Syriana.

And Crash too, but nobody's perfect.

Still, to be included in a list alongside every single movie nominated for the Best Picture Oscar that year is a mighty achievement, and proves just how deeply the film resonated with audiences across a wide spectrum.
