Again going the extra mile to add an extra layer of authenticity to the real feel of The Blair Witch Project, the film’s three stars – Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams and Joshua Leonard – all had their Internet Movie Database information tweaked.

As part of the early buzz around the 1999 film’s release, Heather, Michael and Joshua’s IMDb credits were all amended to show that the trio were listed as “missing, presumed dead” in order to reflect the fate of their characters in the movie.

Once more, this was yet another example of how The Blair Witch Project was ahead of the game and revolutionary in how it made the most of the Internet and encapsulated exactly what a viral marketing campaign could and should be.
