You’ve got to love a good fan theory, right?

Amongst some circles, one theory for the narrative of The Blair Witch Project is that Mike and Josh had planned to kill Heather in the woods.

The people who have that mindset will cite how the two males often walk ahead of Heather, that Heather worries about things that the guys aren’t bothered about, that Mike and Josh can be seen joking around, and that Mike must have surely been woken when Josh left the tent.

Added to this, this same school of thought offers up the notion that Mike and Josh may even have had an accomplice helping them out along the way.

For Heather’s part, the real-life Heather Donahue had initial concerns that the movie was actually going to be a snuff film upon signing up for the picture.
