20 Things You Didn't Know About The Prestige

12. It's Technically A Disney Movie

Most movies have more than one production company or distributor behind them, and in The Prestige's case, this was no different.

The film was produced by four separate companies (Touchstone Pictures, Syncopy, Warner Bros, and Newmarket Productions) and distributed by two, with Warner Bros handling its international rollout, and Buena Vista taking care of business in North America and Canada.

The interesting thing here is that two of these companies are subsidiaries of Disney, which, technically, makes The Prestige a Disney movie - at least partly. It won't be appearing on Disney Plus or anything like that.

Touchstone Pictures (a dormant production and distribution label) and Buena Vista (a name that has been abandoned by Disney) are both tied directly to the Mouse House, making The Prestige a tangential, distant relation of the likes of Star Wars and Marvel.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
