20 Things You Didn't Know About The Rocky Horror Picture Show
1. A Sequel Was In The Works For Decades
Per the film's eventual cult success, Richard O'Brien wrote a sequel in 1979 entitled Rocky Horror Shows His Heels, which would've seen all major characters return alongside the original crew members.
However, after neither director Sharman nor Tim Curry expressed interest in a direct sequel, O'Brien worked with Sharman on a standalone film in a similar vein, 1981's musical comedy Shock Treatment.
The film largely used songs written for the Rocky Horror sequel albeit with lyrical adjustments were necessary, but despite winning a loyal cult of fans, never got close to being the phenomenon that its spiritual predecessor was.
O'Brien devised another sequel script a decade later, Revenge of the Old Queen, though by 1993 Fox had shelved the project.
Between 1999 and 2001 O'Brien worked on a third sequel project, Rocky Horror: The Second Coming, though ultimately failed to deliver a completed script, and little concrete has been heard about a follow-up ever since.
