20 Things You Didn't Know About Transformers
8. No Real Gunshots Were Fired
The effects work on Transformers is truly exceptional, but there are many hidden instances of CGI that you may not have noticed.
One of these is that not a single real or fake gunshot was fired during the whole production as they were all computer generated. This effect is used for the whole film, including the climactic battle in Mission City, but is most obvious in the opening as the solider all shoot at Blackout as he transforms.
The effect allowed Bay to direct the impact of each shot more directly as they were placed through CGI. Additionally, it made the whole production much safer.
