7. General Motors Provided Many Of The Cars
In another way to save money, the production sought the assistance of General Motors to provide many of the vehicles used during the shoot. This included many of the alt-modes of the Autobots, including Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. In fact, they provided three of each vehicle as some would have to be used for stunts.
They also provided many of the background cars that are blown up or flipped around in the film's climatic battle. In exchange for such a deal, the film features the logos of the individual manufacturers prominently throughout in some pretty obvious product placement. All in all, it shaved the production up to $3 million.
Hey, who said making films was cheap?
