19. The Decepticons Were Given Less Dialogue To Make Them More Mysterious

Out of every film in the franchise, the first Bay outing has the least amount of squabbling between the Decepticons, to the dismay of many fans. Although partly due to budgetary restrictions (the CGI cost is large), there was a narrative justification given by screenwriter Roberto Orci.

According to Orci, this decision was taken in order to make the Decepticons more mysterious. He elaborated that having them not speak as often as the Autobots, they would be more threatening. While this certainly works in the first film, and especially ties in with their marketing campaign that played on secrecy, it did not go down well with fans.

In subsequent entries, the Decepticons got a whole lot more dialogue - with a particular emphasis on Megatron berating Starscream.
