14. Soundwave Was Going To Be In The Film

Oh, poor Soundwave. The famous Decepticon communications officer was given a bad run in the Bay films. While he failed to show up in the first entry, his subsequent appearances left much to be desired. It took until 2018's Bumblebee for us to get a G1-style Soundwave, and even then he was barley in the film.

That being said, the fan favorite robot was originally in the first Bay outting in early drafts, in fact he was meant to attack the base in the film's opening - a role that eventually went to Blackout. After this rewrite, Soundwave was designated to take the alt-mode of a Saleen Mustang, but Hasbro ordered a music player be featured in the film, a reference to his cartoon alt-mode - something that was considered incompatible for a large robot to transform into.

The Mustang then became Barricade, and the music player his minion. In reference to Soundwave, the music play is named Frenzy, a name fans will recognize as Soundwave's minion in the G1 cartoon.
