ILM took a lot of time to design and develop the robots, each of which is made up of thousands of individual parts.

Both of Ironhide’s arm mounted cannons are each made out of over ten thousand pieces. Any frame that had a robot in it took up to 38 hours to render, according to Bay. Combined, the Transformers have over 60,000 pieces. Thanks to all this hard work and dedication from ILM the Transformers look amazingly real.

Even thirteen years later, Transformers still looks incredible. In fact, some of the effects work in the film look better than later entries.
