Like in most of his films, director M. Night Shyamalan has a cameo in the film, playing a drug dealer who David Dunn detects at the stadium he works at. The fresh-faced Shyamalan only has a brief appearance compared to some of his other slightly lengthier roles in his other films. Shyamalan has also appeared in his films The Sixth Sense, Signs, The Village, Lady in the Water, The Happening and even The Last Airbender.

What is particularly significant about his cameo, is that he plays the same character in multiple cameos right throughout the Eastrail 177 trilogy. In Split and Glass, he returns as the character known as Jai, who has now turned his life around and is working as a security guard himself.
