6. Samuel L. Jackson Becomes Nick Fury
In perhaps Shyamalan's greatest twist, did the director predict Samuel L. Jackson's casting as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe? In the final moments of the film, Elijah played by Jackson, is seen sitting below three framed comic books on the wall. The comics seen are Thor, Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D and Daredevil. The actor was of course cast as Nick Fury for 2008's Iron Man and has continued to reprise the role since.
Jackson being a big comic book fan himself, took the role after Marvel Comics redesigned Nick Fury in his image without his permission. The fact that Unbreakable shows the actor so close to his future role is obviously nothing more than a happy coincidence, but it is interesting to look back and muse on nonetheless.
