20 Things You Didn't Know About Zodiac

12. Sony Almost Made The Movie (But Had One Unreasonable Request)

Though Zodiac was ultimately co-produced by Warner Bros. and Paramount Pictures, it was very nearly made by Sony. However, the studio balked at the lengthy script, believing that the film shouldn't be more than 135 minutes long.

Though WB and Paramount were themselves nervous about Zodiac's dialogue-dense structure, lack of action scenes, and inconclusive ending, they agreed to share the costs of production, amounting to an estimated $85 million.

Though Zodiac sadly didn't turn a profit at the box office - grossing just $84.7 million - there's no denying that Sony's proposed version would've been markedly inferior to what we got.
