20 Things You May Have Missed In Creed
10. The Movie's Ending Almost Took A Dark Turn
By now it is clear that bringing Donnie's story from concept to cineplex was a long and arduous one, and a fair number of changes were made in order to get the version audiences watched in late 2015. One change that fans of the franchise are grateful took place was sparing Rocky, because at some point the Italian Stallion was set to pass on at the end of the movie.
According to producer Irwin Winkler, Rocky was diagnosed with ALS and eventually died from it at the tail end of the first draft, but the decision was vetoed.
While killing off Rocky might like an absurd decision, it is oddly enough in line with various proposed downer endings for the movies. This can be seen in the original endings for Rocky 1 and 5, where Rocky's loss was less upbeat than the theatrical version and the fifth instalment saw him die after his fight with Tommy Gunn.
