20 Things You May Have Missed In Creed
13. Same Character, Different Writing Team
It cannot be stressed enough just how much Sly has been instrumental in shaping the Rocky franchise. From the mid-'70s where the young Stallone was near his wits end trying to get the first film off the ground, to directing four films in the saga (and writing all of them pre-Creed), Rocky's story is pretty much a stand-in for Stallone's journey.
That said, Creed marked the first time that the action icon did not pen a Rocky story. Instead, the script and screenplay were developed by Ryan Coogler and co-writer Aaron Covington. This makes sense (as we will later see) because Stallone was not all that keen on revisiting the stalwart sporting saga until Coogler convinced him otherwise.
However, he wrote all of Rocky's dialogue and scenes as he felt that he best understood the character's various nuances.
