20 Things You May Have Missed In Creed
12. The Film Almost Did Not Happen
As mentioned before, Sylvester Stallone was not excited at the prospect of working in a new Rocky film or spin-off for that matter. This could be seen in his antipathy towards writing the film (citing his detachment from what modern audiences want).
In addition to this, the actor told the Los Angeles Times that the new direction Rocky was to take was unappealing because he could not imagine the character being portrayed in this new light. It took Coogler, his agent and wife Jennifer Flavin to convince Stallone to step out of his comfort zone and return to his most famous role.
Fortunately, Stallone's return as the lovable boxer was some of the actor's best work and felt like a natural progression of Balboa's journey.
