20 Things You Probably Didn't Know About Children Of Men

8. Banksy Was Almost Involved In The Film

One common staple found in most dystopian-set films is the presence of murals. These films use the art style to showcase the population’s dissatisfaction with the state of things on the sprawling architecture and Children of Men is no different.

At some point, famed mural artist Banksy was approached in the hopes that he would guide the film’s visual style to some degree. The director's recollection of the meeting was odd (in true Banksy fashion) as he never even saw the elusive artist and only spoke to his manager.

Unfortunately this potential collaboration did not come to pass but he did give his approval for one of his pieces to be used in one of the film’s earlier scenes when Theo went to meet his cousin Nigel, a high ranking government official and collector of rare art such as Pablo Picasso's Guernica painting and a damaged statue of David.
