20 Things You Somehow Missed In Alien

4. The Sexual Imagery

Alright, you did not miss the sexual imagery in Alien. The impregnation, the male violation fear, the not even slightly subtle phallic nature of the creature design, and the way its most lethal weapon hidden behind its jaws is... well... let's just say also not subtle.

But the character of Ash is often missed in these conversations. Firstly, as the Android aboard the ship, he's the only character with no lines of dialogue that refer to promiscuity. More importantly though, when attempting to kill Ripley he rolls up a pornographic magazine (turning it into a phallic shape) and attempts to choke her with it. A visual substitute for the genitalia he wouldn't have.

Finally, when attacked by Parker, he effectively explodes in a mass of white liquid and... well... let's just say again that it's not very subtle.
