20 Things You Somehow Missed In Avatar

4. There's A Lorax Easter Egg

Given that Avatar is trying to immerse the audience in a distinctly alien world, it makes sense that James Cameron keeps the pop-culture references to an absolute minimum.

And in fact, perhaps the only major nod to an earthly IP can be seen in Grace's school, where on the floor a tatty copy of Dr. Seuss' The Lorax can be seen for a brief moment. In Avatar's Extended Cut, we can also see Grace reading the book to a group of Na'vi children.

The Lorax is a fitting choice, of course, given that it's an environmentalist story about man's industrious desire to destroy nature in the pursuit of wealth. Sound familiar?

Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes). General video game, TV and film nut. Occasional sports fan. Full time loon.
