20 Things You Somehow Missed In Back To The Future Part 2

4. LaserDiscs Are In The Trash In 2015

Another hilarious Easter egg in 2015 now, as when Marty and Doc arrive there in an alleyway, behind Marty is not only the aforementioned discarded silicone but also a bunch of LaserDiscs presumably being disposed of.

The joke, of course, is about the inevitable obsolescence of just about any sort of storage medium.

Though LaserDisc failed to pick up mainstream traction after launching in 1978 due to strong competition from the cheaper VHS, it was only officially discontinued in 2009.

In that respect this movie was only a few years out, yet at the same time you'd be mad to just throw away LaserDiscs these days, given the high price they can fetch on the collector's market.
