20 Things You Somehow Missed In Blade Runner

16. The Alien Reference

Blade Runner
Warner Bros.

Ridley Scott has gone on record numerous times to say that Blade Runner (like Predator) takes place in the same fictional universe as the Alien movies. It's been expanded upon a lot since both movies originally screened, but the connecting tissue for this does date back to 79 and 82 respectively.

While escaping on the shuttle in Alien, Ripley sees a screen reading "Environment CTR Purge". Complex sci-fi techno-gibberish it may be, but the very same screen also appears in Gaff's spinner right before he takes Deckard to see Bryant. Clearly both the Narcissus and the spinner run software from the same manufacturer.
