20 Things You Somehow Missed In Ghostbusters

3. Venkman’s Thorazine

Ghostbusters Venkman
Columbia Pictures

There's a weird moment in the film were Venkman tells Spengler over the phone that, due to her possession by Zuul, he has sedated Dana with "500ccs of Thorazine". At the time, Thorazine did not have the reputation that it does now for being a date rape drug and was used by psychiatric doctors as a relaxant.

Medication like this is usually measured in weight and not volume so Peter probably meant 500mg of Thorazine if any at all. This is still an abnormally high dosage of the drug and wouldn't be administered to even the most psychotic of patients.

Still, why on Earth would Venkman bring this with him on a date? Either he was up to something truly sketchy, or he's joking about the situation. Dana is clearly sedated, so it's possible he raided her cupboards and threw whatever he could at her to calm her down. Still, it's a strange plot detail.
