A scene that is shown several times through the movie is that of Maximus running his hand over stalks of wheat, representing him thinking of his family and home and what is waiting for him on the other side of death.
However, the hand we see isn't that of Russell Crowe, but of his stunt double, Stuart Clark. Clark, who has worked on some of the best action films ever made, left a lasting impression on moviegoers and helped set the tone for the film in what was probably the easiest stunt he ever had to do.
