13. Aldo Raine's Neck Scar Is From Surviving A Lynching

There's enough going on in the film that you couldn't totally be blamed for not noticing the prominent scar on Aldo Raine's neck. And even many of those who did notice it ultimately believed it was the result of Raine improbably surviving having his throat cut.

But look closely and you might be able to surmise that the scar is actually the result of a severe rope burn, and better still, Tarantino's original script actually explains what caused it:

"Lt. Aldo has one defining physical characteristic, a ROPE BURN around his neck. As if once upon a time, he survived a LYNCHING. The scar will never once be mentioned."

Fans have since speculated that Raine may have been lynched for his ancestry, given that he says in the film that he's descended from the mountain man Jim Bridger and has "a little Injun" in him.
