20 Things You Somehow Missed In Mad Max: Fury Road

15. Immortan Joe Actor Hugh Keays-Byrne Also Played Toecutter In The Original Mad Max

The movie's primary villain, the brilliant Immortan Joe, is played with menacing relish by Australian actor Hugh Keays-Byrne, but this wasn't Keays-Byrne's first foray into Miller's post-apocalyptic franchise.

In the series' tradition of re-using actors, Keays-Byrne actually made his first appearance in the original 1979 Mad Max, where he played the savage antagonist Toecutter.

Given that 36 years have passed and the actor spends the entirety of Fury Road wearing a mask, it's not the easiest reprise to spot, though absolutely mind-blowing once you do know it.

Curiously Keays-Byrne hasn't acted since playing Immortan Joe, yet if this is indeed his final movie role, what a banger he chose to go out on.
