20 Things You Somehow Missed In Napoleon Dynamite

18. Reshooting Hideous Hands

Napoleon Dynamite
Paramount Pictures

Fox financed Napoleon Dynamite's title sequence, but they included a rather bizarre note that required the sequence to be reshot. Fox executives judged the hands used to showcase the objects were "gross" - a rather unexpected insult to Jon Heder, whose real hands were the offending mitts.

A few weeks later, a professional hand model turned up at Jared Hess' door to do the shoot. The model had obviously perfect hands, however, was significantly tanned compared to Heder. A complete reshoot would have ruined the sequence's continuity.

Unbeknown to Fox executives, Hess vetoed the idea of a complete reshoot. Instead, he decided to splice some new footage of the Adonis' hands with the previous footage of Heder’s ugly digits. This mixing of the two was noticed by exactly nobody.
