20 Things You Somehow Missed In Pulp Fiction
13. Vincent's Opening Scene Appearance
Pulp Fiction’s cold open with Pumpkin successfully convincing Honey Bunny to stick up the diner instead of the usual liquor stores is fantastic, but for the majority of the movie feels completely disconnected. It isn’t until the final act that it all comes into place.
Only after 'Vincent Vega and Marsellus Wallace's Wife' and 'The Gold Watch' does the opening scene make sense, in that it happens at exactly the same time as Vincent and Jules are there during 'The Bonnie Incident'.
There is however a clue at the very beginning of the movie that suggests how it will all fit in, though at the time on a first watch it would have been utterly impossible to spot. On a rewatch however, it’s as plain as day.
In the background of Pumpkin and Honey Bunny’s conversation, at one point behind the latter you can see a man with long black hair wearing a white t-shirt walk past. If you consider the timing, with the robbery starting just seconds later, you can piece together that it was Vincent in the background heading to the bathroom right at the very beginning of the movie before even being properly introduced.
