Before stepping into the worlds of Star Wars, Gareth Edwards spent a bit of time dealing with big-screen monsters, directing both 2014's Godzilla reboot and the sci-fi horror known as Monsters.

So, as a way of cheekily saluting the director's history of working with various giant creatures on-screen, the Rogue One crew decided to throw a few monster Easter eggs into Saw Gerrera's cave.

Edwards had no clue and actually only first spotted one of the numerous cave paintings of the likes of Godzilla, the MUTOs, and creatures from Monsters in the middle of a take.
