It sure is incredible just how many minor movie details you can catch by watching films with the subtitles turned on, and that's certainly true in a movie as quip-happy and namedrop-ready as Scream.
When Sidney mentions to Tatum the possibility that her mother's killer is still out there, Tatum replies, "You're starting to sound like some Wes Carpenter flick or something."
It obviously doesn't take a genre fiend to figure out that this is a portmanteau of both Wes Craven and fellow horror filmmaker John Carpenter, yet the line passes by so fast that it's incredibly easily missed if you're not paying complete attention. And even then, subtitles are a wonderful thing.
