20 Things You Somehow Missed In Scream
16. Tatum's Jersey Is An Homage To A Nightmare On Elm Street
One of Scream's more memorable supporting characters is Sidney's ill-fated best friend Tatum Riley (Rose McGowan), who spends the mid-portion of the movie wearing a crop-top jersey with the number 10 on it.
This might seem like the most basic, generic piece of wardrobe for a female high school student, yet it's in fact a nod to Wes Craven's own A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise.
In the 1984 original, Johnny Depp's equally doomed character Glen Lantz wears a distinctly similar jersey also bearing the number 10 and being cropped at the midriff.
A coincidence? Possibly, but knowing Craven's meticulous eye for detail throughout the film - especially where references to prior horror films, including his own, are concerned - probably not.
