20 Things You Somehow Missed In Solo: A Star Wars Story
2. Jon Favreau As Rio
You could argue that no one has done more for Star Wars in recent years than Jon Favreau. If we're being honest, after a sequel trilogy of movies that were received so poorly by audiences it actually made the prequels look good, Star Wars as a franchise was in rough shape.
Enter Favreau, who created The Mandalorian, the show that would ultimately reignite the franchise's fortunes and essentially kickstart the Disney+ renaissance along with The Book of Boba Fett and others. However, even before his creations were released, Favreau played his part in Star Wars on screen rather than off it.
His first Star Wars acting credit came when he voiced Pre Viszla in The Clone Wars, fittingly a Mandalorian extremist and leader of Death Watch. In Solo however, he played a much more light-hearted character who only appeared in a handful of scenes before being killed.
When Han met Tobias Beckett, he joined a crew that also boasted Val and Rio, the latter being a CGI Ardennian pilot. The thing is, Jon Favreau's voice is recognisable, particularly to fans of the MCU, though not necessarily instantly. By the time Rio died during the mission to steal the Coaxium, there are plenty of viewers who wouldn't have quite put together who the voice was, and just how important he has been to Star Wars history.
