Absolutely destroying their competition in just about every single calendar year a Star Wars adventure has made its way into our galaxy, there's a reason George Lucas' brainchild has gone on to become the second-highest-grossing movie franchise of all-time; sitting only behind the unstoppable Marvel Cinematic Universe.
However, despite still coming home with a staggering $653 million back in 2002, Attack of the Clones didn't actually walk out of the year as the single biggest blockbuster entry to have graced our screens. In fact, it didn't even break into the top-three worldwide!
According to BoxOfficeMojo, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man ($821,708,551), the second entry into the Harry Potter series in The Chamber of Secrets ($878,979,634), and Peter Jackson's second outing to Middle-earth with The Two Towers ($936,689,735) all outperformed Lucas' Episode II when it comes to worldwide box office takings.
