As this list will highlight a few more times before it reaches its end, Rian Johnson found a number of genius ways to pay tribute to other Star Wars features throughout his Skywalker Saga Episode.

However, it wasn't just official galaxy far, far away projects that were cleverly saluted during Episode VIII, with the director also managing to fantastically chuck a reference to a little-known short film called Hardware Wars into his epic space opera.

Only the biggest Star Wars super-fans will likely have heard of Ernie Fosselius' 13-minute sci-fi parody, a short film that tells the story of Star Wars, only with household devices.

But Johnson was clearly a lover of that small slice of silly Star Wars fun, and the moment when what looks like a spacecraft landing somewhere is soon revealed to actually be an iron pressing a uniform during The Last Jedi was actually confirmed as an official Hardware Wars reference by the director (via Uproxx).
