20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Shawshank Redemption

9. A Very Flawed Flyover

Shawshank Redemption
Columbia Pictures

Early on in the film, director Frank Darabont utilizes some great aerial shots of Shawshank Prison to give us an idea of the size and the scope of the location we're about to spend the better part of the next two hours and twenty minutes immersed in. These kinds of establishing shots are not uncommon, but the sheer number of goofs in Darabont's shots are.

If you look closely, you can clearly see the shadow of the helicopter in the grass down in the bottom of the frame. Additionally, in the distance, there are also quite a few modern-day cars that would definitely be out of place back in the 1940s.

Not every shot can be perfect, but it's honestly surprising how many errors slipped through the cracks in just a matter of seconds.
