20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Truman Show

13. The Street Cleaner Only Pretends To Clean

The Truman Show Jim Carrey

Keep an eye on the extras scattered throughout Seahaven doing menial work, because you just might see them pretending to do their "jobs" in the most hilariously superficial fashion.

For example, as Truman's suspicion ramps up at the end of the first act and he begins testing out his theory, a street cleaner can be seen using a trash picker to...pick up nothing but thin air.

His job is simply to hold a trash bag and make it look like he's filling it up, despite the Seahaven set being pretty much pristine and trash-free.

It's rather reminiscent of that extra in Quantum of Solace who pretends to be sweeping the street behind Bond...by sweeping a solid foot above the ground.
