In the realm of storytelling, the saying "write what you know" is oft stated. While it sounds simple, following this rule of narrative creation goes a long way in ensuring that the world and characters a storyteller has created feels well-thought out and complete.

It turns out that Taika Waititi took this advice to heart when adapting Korg for the big screen. In the comics, the Kronan is your standard alien warrior and while this is fine for the stories he has appeared in, it would not quite have fit in the whimsical world of Ragnarok.

The Hunt for the Wilderpeople director revealed that the MCU's version of Korg was inspired by Polynesian nightclub bouncers he encountered in the past. Their laidback demeanour and voices stood out to Waititi, and this dichotomy stuck with him while crafting the movie's breakout character.
