20 Things You Somehow Missed In Thor: Ragnarok

9. One Of Sakaar's Monuments Is A Giant Comic Reference

For comic fans, it is no secret that Thor: Ragnarok borrows a fair amount of imagery and characters from the Planet Hulk storyline. From Hulk's gladiatorial garb, the obedience disk and the presence of Korg, the 2006 arc is well represented in the 2017 movie. One monument in the film pays homage to the source material in a way that only the most committed Marvel fan would immediately notice.

The Grandmaster's tower features the appearances of characters such as Beta Ray Bill, Bi-Beast, the Nightcrawler (not the beloved X-Men character), Man-Thing (who would later appear in Werewolf by Night) and Ares.

These characters were champions long before the Hulk arrived and their presence in the MCU (Beta Ray Bill in particular) would be an interesting avenue to explore.
