20 Things You Somehow Missed In X-Men

12. That Not-So-Sneaky Macbeth Reference

In addition to sharing its shooting location with Billy freaking Madison, the X-Mansion's signage also bears a significant Easter egg for anyone who likes Shakespeare.

The address of the mansion, listed relatively prominently as "1407 Graymalkin Lane, Salem Center," may seem innocuous enough, but in addition to being the X-Mansion's address in the comics, it's also a clear nod to Shakespeare's Macbeth.

In the play, "Graymalkin" is the name of the witches' cat, and given that prominent X-Men writer Chris Claremont has cited Shakespeare as a major influence on his work, the nod was surely intentional.

Better still, the "Salem" namedrop in the address is clearly a tip of the hat to the Salem witch trials, and it's not like the movie's plot is a million miles away from being a witch hunt.
