3. Theodore Donald Donny Kerabatsos - The Big Lebowski
Played by the great Steve Buscemi, Donny was underappreciated in life. And, come to think of it, in death. He is a good-natured man but seems to often be quite distant from conversations. The events of The Big Lebowski do not revolve around him- he remains very much on the fringes of the story, and yet, when his friends involve themselves in a murderous kidnapping conspiracy, it is Donny who pays the price. And as for his funeralwell, if you havent seen the film, Donnys funeral is, in this genius persons opinion, one of the greatest scenes of black comedy ever...
2. Johnny - The Room
Its hard to be a well-rounded, functioning member of society without having seen Tommy Wiseaus masterpiece The Room. Known as the Citizen Kane of bad movies the sheeruniqueness of the plot, acting, and characterisation will show you a whole new level of movie making. Maybe not a very high level, but still a level you were unaware of. It is the story of Johnny, who is marrying Lisa, who cheats on Johnny with his best friend Mark, so Johnny kills himself after a series of scenes so glorious and transcendent that to describe them wouldnt even scratch their surface. Just go and watch it, for the sake of all that is good and fine in this world. Then you will understand Johnnys character, and, through doing so, understand the universe. That strangely accented man is the world seen through a grain of sand.
