20 Upcoming Horror Movies That Might Surprise You

6. Evil Dead Burn

Considering the impressive consistency of the Evil Dead franchise, there's little reason to doubt the merits of the upcoming Evil Dead Burn, even if the marketing hints that we're going to be getting a rather different Evil Dead movie than usual.

The film revolves around a family reunion from hell as members of said family are progressively turned into Deadites while mourning one of their loved ones, and the trailer seems to suggest it'll be a satirical fusion of family drama with the more expected, heightened horror mayhem.

Grief is clearly going to be at the forefront of the story, but filmmaker Sébastien Vaniček has also tempered fans' expectations by insisting that his film will be less explicitly gory than previous franchise installments.

The trailer still looks hella gnarly, though, so fans shouldn't worry about a sanitised, tamped-down Evil Dead, even if it might scale back the blood-letting a bit to let the dramatic stuff breathe a little more.
