5. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is simply too iconic an IP for Hollywood to ever let go, and so following 2022's rancid legacy sequel, it was just a matter of time before another reboot, remake, or reimagining was announced.

And indeed, back in April it was confirmed that A24 was developing a new take on The Texas Chainsaw Massacre set to be written and directed by one of the hottest rising filmmakers in the horror scene right now - Obsession filmmaker Curry Barker.

To some Barker's talents may seem wasted on an IP as no-nonsense as this, but it's worth considering Barker's own perspective, that he intends to deliver a more grounded, raw, character-driven rendition of the IP.

Some might argue that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre has never really been about that, but considering the series' last good movie was more than 20 years ago - 2003's surprisingly pretty-good remake - there's something to be said for rolling the dice on a bold new vision.
